What’s the application process like?

Applications for the 2017 Cabaret & Performance Conference Fellows Program will be accepted from Monday, March 27th through Monday, May 1st at 11:59pm PDT Participation is limited to no more than eight artists. Those accepted into the conference will be notified on, or around, June 15.

How much does the conference cost?

The full cost of attending the Fellows Program is $3,500 USD.  Financial aid and partial scholarships may be available and can be discussed with the artistic director upon acceptance. The Mark Fusco Scholarship is a full scholarship awarded to one outstanding applicant.

What is the deadline to apply for the conference?

All applications must be received by May 1st.

Am I eligible to apply?

If you are over 18 years of age and have a passion for performing, you are eligible.  If you are under the age of 18, please consider applying for our Junior Fellows program.

I’m international; may I apply?

Yes, absolutely, though we cannot help you acquire your visa.

What’s the difference between the Fellows program and the Junior Fellows program?

The Junior Fellows program is solely for middle and high school aged students. The Junior Fellows program works on group numbers as well as solos and duets and presents one public performance. The Cabaret Fellows work more individually and present two public performances.

I want to work on a piece, should I submit it to the National Music Theater Conference or the Cabaret & Performance?

The Cabaret & Performance conference focuses on works of live performance in an intimate space that breaks the fourth wall. Additionally, the conference works to support you as a whole artist, including participation in frequent open mic nights as well as other performance experiences in front of an audience. The focus of the National Music Theater Conference is on the development of one specific work of music theater.

How many songs need to be included in the video audition?

The video audition must include at least two contrasting songs of your choosing.

May I include more than two songs?

Yes, absolutely.
