PROGRAM FEES
NTI SEMESTERS & ADVANCED DIRECTING/PLAYWRITING
FALL 2012/SPRING 2013 SEMESTERS
Tuition: $15,500 (includes $900 non-refundable reservation deposit)
Room & Board: $7,000 (meals served 7 days a week)
Total Comprehensive Fee: $22,500
In addition to the Comprehensive Fee all students must remit a $100 key/security deposit prior to their arrival at the O'Neill Center, along with all international visa fees. Dates of the program and fees are subject to change.
FALL 2013/SPRING 2014 SEMESTERS
Tuition: $16,200 (includes $900 non-refundable reservation deposit)
Room & Board: $7,500 (meals served 7 days a week)

MEALS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE COMPREHENSIVE FEE
In addition to the Comprehensive Fee all students will be responsible for paying for their visa and the processing fee. Meals are not included in the Total Comprehensive Fee. The dormitory has kitchen facilities, and the program provides guidance for shopping and inexpensive dining.
THEATERMAKERS
SUMMER 2013 SEMESTER
Tuition: $4,700 (includes $900 non-refundable reservation deposit)
Room & Board: $3,000 (meals served 7 days a week)
Total Comprehensive Fee: $7,700
In addition to the Comprehensive Fee all students must remit a $50 key/security deposit prior to their arrival at the O'Neill Center.
PAYMENT POLICY
Once you have received notification of acceptance into an NTI program, a $900 non-refundable deposit must be paid within 14 days or your position will not be held. This deposit is deductible from your total tuition charge. Payment of the remainder of your comprehensive fee will be arranged upon acceptance.
FINANCIAL AID
Check with your school’s financial aid office to determine whether your existing loans, grants and scholarships can be applied to the National Theater Institute programs. In many instances they can be transferred. Connecticut College is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. NTI has a limited and need-based scholarship program. Please telephone the NTI office at (860) 443-7139 if you have financial aid questions.
OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS
Connecticut College is the college of record for the National Theater Institute programs. One semester of academic credit (20 credit hours or 5 course credits) is awarded to undergraduates who successfully complete the NTI Semesters and MATS. One semester of academic credit (16 credit hours or 4 course credits) is awarded to undergraduates who successfully complete Advanced Directing and Advanced Playwriting. Students attending Theatermakers are awarded 8 credit hours or 2 courses of academic credit for successful completion of the program. At the end of each program, grades are reported to Connecticut College, where they are put on an official transcript and forwarded to the student’s college or university registrar upon request.
REFUND POLICY:
NTI – FALL & SPRING SEMESTERS
If the NTI Executive Administrator receives written notification of withdrawal:
• Before December 1 (Spring Semester) or August 1 (Fall Semester), NTI will refund tuition monies
collected minus the non-refundable $900.00 deposit and any travel booking costs incurred.
• After December 1 and on or before December 31 (Spring Semester) and after August 1 and on
or before August 31 (Fall Semester), NTI will refund monies collected for room and board only.
• After December 31 (Spring Semester) and after August 31 (Fall Semester), no refund will be
issued.
MATS SEMESTER
If the NTI Executive Administrator receives written notification of withdrawal:
• Before August 1, NTI will refund tuition monies collected minus the non-refundable $900.00

MEDICAL INSURANCE
The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center assumes no medical expenses for its students. All students must have medical insurance coverage either through their parents, their personal insurance, or from their college or university.

Applicants must demonstrate a clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges of an intensive semester of study at the O'Neill and a determination to complete the chosen program in a conscientious manner. Special attention is paid to the required letters of evaluation and to the interview process. All applicants are welcome, including post-graduates.
Finalists for each program will be notified by phone and/or email to schedule an interview. It is ideal if the interview is conducted in person, however if that is not possible a Skype interview can be scheduled. Directions to NTI.

We are not looking for quantity but the quality of your writing: your voice, your style and your technique. Advanced Directing: A portfolio of your directing work thus far, i.e. production or rehearsal photos and also short clips of your work on DVDs, a website or YouTube. Theatermakers looks for students with a proven ability to handle the demands of disciplined theater work and for individuals who will be positive and contributing members of an ensemble. All members of the Theatermakers company will take the required Collaborative Experience course, and will elect one of the three focus courses. Experience in areas other than your special focus is desirable. All participants must demonstrate a clear understanding of the opportunities and challenges of an intensive program of study, and a determination to complete the program in a conscientious manner. In the preliminary admission process, special attention is paid to your essay and to the required letters of evaluation. All applicants are welcome, including post-graduates.
THE FIRST STEP: SUBMIT AN APPLICATION PACKAGE
The Theatermakers application package includes an application form, an essay, two letters of evaluation, and some supporting materials. Please check the list below thoroughly, as an incomplete application will delay our response to you. The annual submission deadline is March 20. Only submissions complete per these guidelines and postmarked on or before March 20 of the year for which you are applying will be considered.

THE SECOND STEP: SELECTION AS A FINALIST
When all application materials are received, you will be notified by phone and/or email that your file is complete. Your initial application will be reviewed. If you are chosen as an applicant finalist, you will be contacted to submit additional materials relative to your chosen focus (see below), and for an interview and/or audition:
Acting: Three (3) contemporary monologues, and one (1) classical monologue. Your selections should be no longer than two minutes each.
Playwriting: Send us 2 or 3 scripts of yours that best showcase your voice and your work; these could be short ten-minute or one-act plays or full-length plays. We are not looking for quantity but the quality of your writing: your voice, your style and your technique.
